ABOUT THE FOUNDER
A Passion for Education, Creativity & Community
Raíces Creative Studio is the vision of Amanda Mendieta, an educator, entrepreneur, and community leader with a passion for creating spaces where people of all ages can learn, create, and connect.
At the heart of this project are Amanda’s two daughters, Amanda and Valentina. Watching their curiosity, creativity, and love for learning has been one of the greatest inspirations behind Raíces. They inspired the dream of creating a welcoming place where children can explore their interests, build confidence, express themselves, and feel a true sense of belonging.
Raised in Mexico and having lived in Mexico, Australia, and Canada before making Katy home, Amanda brings a multicultural perspective and a deep appreciation for the power of language, creativity, and community. Her bilingual background has inspired years of teaching Spanish and creating educational experiences that celebrate culture while making learning engaging and accessible.
For the past four years, Amanda has proudly served Cane Island families through educational summer camps that combine science, art, cultural exploration, hands-on learning, and creativity. These programs have welcomed more than 100 local families, creating memorable experiences and building lasting relationships within the community.
In addition to leading community programs, Amanda serves as a bilingual educator and substitute teacher with Katy ISD. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in International Business, bringing a strong foundation in leadership, organization, and business planning to every project she undertakes.
Raíces Creative Studio represents the next chapter of that journey—transforming years of community programming and a mother’s dream into a permanent space where families can gather, learn new skills, express their creativity, and build meaningful connections.
Raíces Creative Studio began with a simple idea: to create a welcoming place where children and families can learn, create, and connect.
After years of teaching Spanish, working with children, and creating camps and activities within our community, I dreamed of having a space where those experiences could grow into something more—a place where learning feels joyful, creativity is encouraged, and meaningful connections happen naturally.
The name Raíces, meaning roots in Spanish, represents what we hope to nurture here. Strong roots are built through language, creativity, culture, confidence, and community. When children are given a place to explore their interests, express themselves, and feel that they belong, those roots can grow into something beautiful.
At Raíces, you'll find Spanish lessons, art and music experiences, creative workshops, camps, and opportunities for families to come together. Some activities will teach new skills, some will simply give us a reason to create and have fun, but all of them share the same purpose:
